I have an cultural question… you sign up yourself or your child for a gym, or swimming lessons, or a sports team or some other organized physical activity. Is there a medical checkup involved in any step?
My kid does a few physical extra-school activities and we've never had to go through a medical with him. I've not seen it for others either.
Depending on the country you might need a physical checkup from your family physician, mostly for insurance purposes.
They do usually have a checklist of questions like allergies or whatnot, but that's all self-certified by you as the parent (or carer).
I would suspect that is mostly non-european countries 'tho. As in Europe most people already have state-wide medical insurance (such as the NHS or equivlant)
It’s mandatory in Greece to get a physical checkup, usually including a heart exam (ECG or even ultrasound).
I wonder if there’s a population thing (eg Greeks have a higher diabetes occurrence) or if we just have too many private doctors :)
Not required in Germany. But children (under a certain age) are generally not permitted in (regular) gyms.
Physical exams are required for youth sports in the USA (South Carolina) in my experience

More "wafeldinsdag" in the Netherlands, I suppose 🙂 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fight_Between_Carnival_and_Lent
As I grew up in protestant area I am not overly familiar with all these things, even tough my mum is a catholic we didn't really do anything for carnival.
I'm afraid not many people have heard of something like "wafeldinsdag" in NL, google doesn't come up with many hits either
My wife eats pancakes for lunch several times a week, nothing related to Lent though
(wafeldinsdag was a joke based on the attached painting 🙂)
I opted for a French-made buckwheat one with spinach today, similar to this one:
The Dutch traditionally made waffles the day before Lent to get rid of the eggs, cream, &c, which inspired Brueghel's painting. Pancakes are the Irish/UK version of the same tradition.

Someone posted this in a comment on Hacker News and I thought it was a wonderful few minutes spent: https://www.anumberfromtheghost.com/asleep-in-trees
Is there a good guide to efficient development with Reagent that I wouldn’t know about? 😄 Haven’t sharpened the saw in a while.
I'm not quite sure what it is I like so much about using reduce, and vector, and peek/pop/conj
