morning
Good morning! I guess. The adults here have been taking shifts in taking care of our boy since he decided to get up at 3 this night.
moorning 🥶🤧
morning!
I've never considered visiting (or applying for a talk to) a US conference... because I've never been to the US before since the long flight dreads me (I tend to get a bit claustrophobic in small rooms like planes) and the environmental impact of the flight depresses me. But I'm also someone who doesn't do stuff I've not done before but once I have, I'll do it again many times... so I might do it at some point...
I’ve been on US territory twice, once to a Conj, and I must say that while I’m not in any way claustrophobic, the long flights sucked. I found it hard to sleep, and one plane flight was very cold - my girlfriend actually got ill following the flight, which put a damper on the joy of arrival.
Also, your “nothing new, but repeat old stuff endlessly” pattern interests me. Is it related to any kind of diagnosis? I tend to be very conservative and habit-oriented, as well
I think I have very light autistic traits. Maybe it’d be enlightening to attempt a diagnosis.
(for people who suspect it in general, not you particularly… but that might also include you, though 🙂 )
My wife and I joke about it but I don't know what such a diagnosis would buy me (or my wife, we're similarly habitual ;))
Well, it might cascade into a bunch of smaller revelations that could help you in situations that you didn’t expect. Unknown unknowns, you know. And also, it might enable you to more easily find like-minded people, or understand non-like-minded-people.
I mean, it couldn’t hurt, at least. Except for the time and bother. Which is why I haven’t done anything about it, time is sparse here…
oh yeah, sorry everyone 😬
I’ve stopped travelling to conferences now. As much as I love airports (not too bothered about the flying bit).
I would love to go and it's nice to read that North Carolina, or at least the cities including Durham, Charlotte, etc don't have fights about bathroom access any more.
Did realise you still needed them @U04V5VAUN 🙂
I will be at Conj -- conference and hotel booked, looking at flights. Most of my flight options are the same amount of travel time as flying from London to the Conj (although if I get a more expensive non-stop flight it's a few hours less).
Yup, me too.
It's a nice hotel. Been there a few times.
