Same. I start by wanting to figure out how to solve some memory-related issue when running a JAR in a Docker container, but somehow end up simulating conversations between long dead linguists and sci-fi characters on the surface of an alien planet.

We had snowfall today, but it’s already wet

Not really powder, it’s all artificial snow, but it felt really nice. And also, just being out and getting some sun this time of year.

Gonna go out and try to enjoy it anyway. No skiing here, though 😄

No, no, it’s man-made snow in contrast to the snow that falls from the skies. You can see the snow-cannons producing snow in the pictures.

Ah! Didn’t see that. Shows my experience with skiing.

I think I’ll go outside for a bit and see how the heaven-made snow is today 🙂

outdoor activities’ the right direction… whatever you do, make sure you don’t imitate one of those meme where the parents gives a graduate text in pure math to the baby to read (or that infamous book “Quantum Mechanics for babies”) lol

We try to take him outside at least once a day. He’s an avid car-looker, so he enjoys the many parked and parking cars we have around here.

And generally looking at things. He’s not really much of a runner-arounder, more like a stand-and-contemplater.

Yeah, he doesn’t get it from us! I think it originated from a fascination with the wheels. His favourite relaxing stim is to lie on the floor and push his toy crocodile sloooowly directly past his face.

I’ve no clue whether it’ll carry on into later in life, or if he’ll turn to maths 😛

alas, that is not for us to decide… in the meantime, enjoy and bask in the cuteness with the baby and the wheeeeel

It can actually be hard to tell from his facial expressions whether he’s enjoying whatever we’re doing, but from his interest in going outside (and staying outside!), I assume that he loves it.

We’re thinking he might be on the spectrum somewhere, on a light end.

oh, not sure if this applies: if there’s an imaginary thought bubble, he could be thinking “my dad think he’s taking me out to exercise. Well, actually, I am taking him out to exercise”

Well, it works. I’ve never been as much outside as I am currently. And in terrible weather, too.

for the “spectrum” thing: everyone’s different (that’s why it’s called “spectrum” in the first place), but one possible effect is that he may want to do socialization slightly differently from normal people. Eg. compensate for (nonverbal) social cue awareness by adopting a more explicit communication style

(that advise may be more applicable for adult… for baby, I’ve no idea 👽)

I can empathise with that. I have some verbal communication difficulties myself; not understanding social cues, but for spoken language, it’s like I just comprehend what’s said at a slower rate than most people, especially when multiple people are speaking. Curiously, I don’t observe anything like that with my son, not for verbal or nonverbal communication. He’s been late to start speaking, and he still is not saying fully formed words, but he’s been eagerly baby signing to compensate, and he seems to be generally very conscious about what we’re saying, also when not speaking directly to him.
