My internet provider has a DNS problem again. Adding 1.1.1.1 to the DNS servers works. But the internet provider's website doesn't even work because of their own problem ;).

borkdude09:11:31

They're a bit amateur-ish, it's a small scale company that offers 1000gbit internet for 44 euros a month. They invoice really late, I just received my invoice for last January. Usually it works, but sometimes they have issues like this.

thomas09:11:23

which provider is that? I'm moving to Delta at the moment.

Stefan10:11:49

I’m on Delta now, but I’m going to switch to Freedom right away as soon as it is offered here.

borkdude10:11:54

freedom looks good but the price is x2 of what I'm paying now for 1000gbit

Morning! Getting stuff done thanks to multiple tools produced by one Borkdude 🙂

Good morning 🙂

lread14:11:25

Good morning!

simongray15:11:58

Have a good weekend everyone. I’m gonna head back home to the family and eat some https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%86bleskiver later tonight.

Jakub Holý (HolyJak)14:11:42

Not sure what that is but I hope you survive trollface

seancorfield16:11:40

Mmm... normally we only get that at Christmas (a friend always makes them for breakfast for anyone who turns up early!).

otfrom17:11:37

If "liking British food" was a personality, what foods would you have to like for it to be that important?

otfrom17:11:20

jellied eels? tripe?

otfrom17:11:35

haggis and black pudding don't seem like a big deal now that I live in Scotland

borkdude17:11:12

vegan haggis

seancorfield17:11:15

I've never liked jellied eels -- but I generally don't like jelly on savory foods (I tolerate it in meat pies as long as there's not too much of it).

dharrigan17:11:08

Yorkshire puddings

seancorfield17:11:13

Steak & kidney pie. Liver & onions. Tongue. Heart. Those are all good things that make most Americans squeal in disgust.

otfrom17:11:21

yeah, but what very, very British foods do you need to like for it to be a personality? Liking fish & chips wouldn't count.

seancorfield17:11:26

Yeah, +1 for Yorkshire pud. And toad in the hole.

otfrom17:11:45

liver and onions is meh, but not OMG. I love a bit of steak and kidney pie

otfrom17:11:55

tongue, heart and offal are generally a bit tricky

otfrom17:11:01

mushy peas, maybe

seancorfield17:11:13

Curry'n'chips? 🙂

otfrom17:11:20

Yorkshire pudding and toad in the hole are just amazing and I will have nothing said against them

borkdude17:11:25

<3 mushy peas last time I was in Scotland ;)

dharrigan17:11:31

chicken tikka masala

seancorfield17:11:43

My (American) wife thinks mushy peas are vile...

otfrom17:11:03

I'm not a massive fan, but I don't run away from them the way I do from tripe.

seancorfield17:11:09

...but we have, finally, found a curry she likes! (lamb boti masala -- MILD)

dharrigan17:11:36

I have a weak irish palate, so chicken tikka masala, or korma for me...

borkdude17:11:39

I had two native Indian people come over last weekend and they cooked for us. 13 cloves of garlic... oops

borkdude17:11:15

(native Indian as in: born and raised in India)

otfrom17:11:18

all curry is good. You might just need to improve yourself

seancorfield17:11:30

The owner of the local Indian restaurant here teases me that I eat much spicier food than she can tolerate (she's an immigrant from India).

otfrom17:11:01

(I say the same to myself when I struggle with something like lobster. Clearly it is a good thing. My disliking it is my own personal failing)

seancorfield17:11:19

I cooked a leek and sweet potato curry last week and my wife complained that all she could taste was "Heat! OMG!" (she had half a teaspoon of it).

borkdude17:11:32

That sounds delicious

seancorfield17:11:36

My wife says lobster is just a vehicle for butter 🙂

seancorfield17:11:17

@U0525KG62 What do you mean about organ meats being "a bit tricky"?

otfrom17:11:58

in that I don't know which ones would count for my silly "British food is my personality" test

otfrom17:11:52

btw, if someone thinks British food is their personality, then they should take a good, long look at themselves and question their life choices 😉

seancorfield17:11:10

Yeah... and TBH I'd consider organ meats just as much a French thing as a British thing... I'd never considered "medium rare" kidney until I had it in Paris (it was amazing!).

otfrom17:11:25

pretty much all British food that isn't turnips or blackberries are from somewhere else. Just look at the names (beef, pork)

genRaiy18:11:31

Britain owned the world so it makes sense that the world of food owns it

genRaiy18:11:27

the personality is one that is always in denial about these historical facts

Rachel Westmacott10:11:25

the names 'beef' and 'pork' came from elsewhere - but I think we'd been eating pigs and cows since before the french took over

otfrom11:11:42

Good old Norman French

👍 1
otfrom17:11:06

(pls feel free to start other "liking x food" was a personality threads, I'd be interested)

genRaiy18:11:16

godo morgnin
