Good morning 🙂

Good Morning!

Morning.... If you are interested in working with me and 4 other developers writing Clojure, then see my post in the #jobs channel. Hopefully working with me isnt the off-putting thing :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

actually doing some perf tuning/omg how do I make this fit into RAM work today

otfrom16:07:46

been a while since the data has been big enough for me to even think about that

otfrom16:07:52

(it still isn't big)

slipset16:07:40

Interestingly, I’ve been perf-tuning as well today, but not in space but time. We have a job that runs every hour which supposedly took three hours to run. Not great.

mccraigmccraig16:07:39

i'm just waiting for our daily cassandra CSV dumps for redshift to start taking longer than 24h... they are currently taking 3h, so we've got time, but it's not going to take many times our current data volume...

otfrom16:07:51

those are always fun

otfrom16:07:16

annoyingly my space saving version takes 6 mins to run rather than 3

otfrom16:07:30

it hasn't made the OOM Killer appear tho, so that is good

otfrom16:07:30

tho this is after having a version that just never completed at all

otfrom16:07:06

so yesterday today has been: spin spin spin, never complete sometimes complete in 3 mins, sometimes 💥 complete consistently in 6 mins

otfrom16:07:14

it is trade offs all the way down

otfrom16:07:22

I'm hoping I can find a faster no 💥 method

slipset16:07:22

First production run after optimization. 25 mins.

dumb idea, what if you had a custom version of eval that would run it against the 4clojure set instead.

dominicm08:07:56

up to the server, that is.

dominicm08:07:09

4clojure seems like a good idea for me to look into applying an idea of mine to wrt evaluating other's code in a safe sandbox…

pez08:07:25

There is no server, right?

dominicm10:07:33

Not anymore, but I'd consider paying to host one for others.

dominicm10:07:42

I have some ideas about how to do it cheaper than what was there before.

dominicm10:07:51

cheaper & safer.

dominicm10:07:03

@U0ETXRFEW are you part of the group maintaining the new 4clojure?

pez10:07:02

Only Rich 4Clojure. 😎

borkdude11:07:49

@U09LZR36F there is also https://4clojure.oxal.org/, the ultimate cheap solution as it's only Github paying for the hosting

dominicm11:07:53

That's the one I was thinking of 🙂
