Morning! Congratulations to all Italians beating Spain last night! I don’t have a luxury of supporting my national team at Euro or World Cup, so 2nd in line is Italy 🇮🇹

For the people who helped me recently with testing an iOS problem. I found out what caused the hard crash of my App. It turned out one of the .png I was loading was very big and and ReactNative/IOS had problems resizing it for some reason. Made the picture smaller and now it works with out any problems.

Good Morning!

Good morning!

djm12:07:30

I don’t remember ever having any catastrophic accidents like that, but maybe I’ve erased them from my mind

otfrom13:07:41

definitely needed to remind myself when working in investment banking that the screwups were only money and that no one was going to die

djm13:07:03

I made a boss angry once (when working for a company who made wealth management software), when I made a comment along those lines

simongray12:07:24

Morning everyone. Make sure to watch Denmark beating England at Wembley tonight 😉

ordnungswidrig14:07:01

I need to search my Dannebrog :flag-dk: !

agigao14:07:51

Well Well Well :D I think tonight the game will be more spectacular than the other one yesterday, Spanish tiki-taka and 65% possession was damn boring! I do plan to cheer for Denmark 😛 Simon Kjær (AC Milan)

simongray15:07:55

I thought yesterday's game was quite exciting. And Simon Kjær is great!

I forget how many countries or regions St George is a patron for

agigao14:07:43

Georgia joins the party 😁

agigao14:07:45

Our flag was “updated” in 2005 or so

otfrom14:07:27

ah, this was the quote I was looking for: "The St. George's flag, a red cross on a white field, was adopted by England and the City of London in 1190 for their ships entering the Mediterranean to benefit from the protection of the Genoese fleet. The English Monarch paid an annual tribute to the Doge of Genoa for this privilege."

otfrom14:07:52

basically, the English flag is a reminder that English ships were protected by a more powerful region 🙂

otfrom14:07:21

if England lose is the Danelaw re-established?

otfrom14:07:00

or do the descendents of Cnut get to rule parts of England? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danelaw

otfrom14:07:13

I suppose that is one way to get back into the EU 😉

mccraigmccraig14:07:42

genius move @U0525KG62 - go danmark!

otfrom14:07:10

if it happened now, obviously I'd be on the wrong side of the border

pez15:07:19

The Raven Banner. Now we are talking.

ordnungswidrig14:07:45

Anybody else noticing?

pez14:07:50

Did you know? St George’s Cross is an anagram of Dannebrogen!

🙈 2
simongray15:07:22

The Nordic cross is slightly left of centre, so it's not a complete mirror image. Close enough 🙃

otfrom16:07:09

sorry to venture on topic...

otfrom16:07:20

I find I'm using delay a lot these days

otfrom16:07:44

most of my work is ingesting files, training models, spitting out simulation results, cutting those results in lots of ways

otfrom16:07:20

I used to do lots of things in rich comment blocks and then migrate them to functions where I'd pass in a path name to the files into the functions (which I'd still call from the RCB)

otfrom16:07:48

I now find I just put all of that into a delay and then deref things when I need them (so I only get the hit the first time)

otfrom16:07:17

the data take a bit to load and scrub into the format I need, but it still works out well and seems to be pretty smooth for now

otfrom16:07:42

I know it isn't a big deal, but just wanted to share how some of my practice is changing and see where other people are at

Ed16:07:01

I used to do that a lot when I was munging lots of data too. Delay, futures, etc are a great way to keep things hanging around. As are lazy-seq's, you can work on chucks at a time, caching the intermediate steps during development. delay + defonce is a useful combination 😉 .. I'm doing that less at the moment, but I think that's a function of the type of work I'm doing.

otfrom16:07:19

I'll have to use defonce more after my ingestion stabilises 🙂

agigao19:07:40

Woah! What a goal! :flag-dk:

Ed20:07:31

Stable ingestion is indeed a laudable goal ... ;)

pez20:07:00

I’m following the football game through this channel, so counting on updates. 😃

Ed20:07:56

I can hear stressed shouting at the TV from downstairs ... Wait let me find out what's going on

Ed20:07:07

Apparently it's 1-1

🙏 2
seancorfield20:07:35

And Denmark scored both of them 😆

agigao21:07:28

If not Kjaer, Sterling would have scored anyway 😈

dominicm21:07:06

I hear cheering and barking

simongray21:07:24

Noooooo 😭😭😭

simongray21:07:14

Only 15 minutes to fix this....

agigao06:07:04

I’m sorry for what happened yesterday. Honestly, England played better overall - but penalty was just invented out of thin air, I think almost everyone agrees on that, including English. There were more than one reason not to give a penalty: VAR, 2nd ball on the pitch, but still it went through. P.S. Morning

pez21:07:17

I can hack on Calva and follow the football at the same time. So awesome. :star-struck:
