Guten Morgen. It's friday
#clojure-nl has been infected with UGT by me. and any other channel you are on @otfrom
I know there was at least one spam complaint on #community-development about it (tho it was resolved after the practice was explained)
it's supposed to keep 50000 items, but somehow it got truncated to 5000, not sure what happened
no longer streaming on twitch though, I only just learned the other day that they delete recording after 14 day :man-facepalming::skin-tone-2: I had no clue. We did some great interviews this summer for Clojure European Summer Time that are now gone forever
so only streaming to youtube now, yes using OBS. works like a charm, and with the websocket server plugin easy to control from Clojure 😄
and OBS supports recording at the same time to you local machine 😉
I would start streaming or producing just because of the fun I have with OBS.
now I'm just waiting for my new webcam. I got this one at the beginning of the pandemic when all webcams were sold out, and it's some kind of chinese knock-off, misbehaves all the time.
Since reading this https://twitter.com/Cleroth/status/1318911490863337472 I keep a backup of at least my own talks somewhere else than Youtube since I consider everything on Google ephemeral.
@borkdude are there any reports of this happening to other people, or is it an anecdotal case?
I moved my mail to http://mailbox.org (1 euro per month) which still forwards to gmail, but at least I can flip the switch if I have to
yeah fair enough, I consider the risk of me or any other service accidentally losing all my data higher than the risk of google kicking me off their platform
while talking about backups, I love the strategy of leaving raspberry-pis with an SSD attached runnint “syncthing” on strategic locations for desaster resistence
Coming out of an almost three weeks effort of refactoring some code. I feel there’s a talk in somewhere in this experience. Unfortunately it’s our login code, so somewhat sensible code to put on display. But it has some interesting bigger ideas in the tension between OOP and FP which I would love to present at some point (when the Corona is gone, and we can go back to having conferences IRL)
