good morning!

good morning

genRaiy08:09:15

just following up on the TBE, according the official Belgium vaccination web site: > Teken-encefalitis komt nog niet voor in België, maar wel al in de buurlanden zoals Duitsland. > Tick-borne encephalitis does not yet occur in Belgium, but it already occurs in neighboring countries such as Germany.

dominicm09:09:45

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/ticks-distribution-of-ixodes-ricinus-in-england-scotland-and-wales this is perhaps why I've never really known about this stuff. I'm from the middle of the country where there's seemingly less.

Morning All 🙂

genRaiy10:09:33

also yes, morning

I didn’t realise this channel existed. Do people wake up really late? Trying to estimate from the “good morning” greetings, since those were what I came here to check out. (Because of a recent thread in #community-development )

borkdude12:09:04

It's univeral greeting time, see topic

pez12:09:53

Hahaha, lol, omg.

pez12:09:48

TIL. Thanks!!!

otfrom15:09:58

Hello new people

otfrom15:09:15

I am having so much fun with transducers now that I'm using x/by-key and x/reduce

otfrom15:09:58

Tho I did have to remind myself to use a plain transduce rather than an into and x/reduce

otfrom15:09:05

It is making decomposing things into pipelines with small functions for each step really worthwhile

slipset16:09:08

I think I made a mental image like this: working without transducers is like sucking data through a straw which where the other end of the straw is sideeffecting. Working with with transducers is like taking a result from a side effecting fun and pouring it into a pipe.

slipset16:09:45

Note that I have never worked with transducers, I only played with them a bit today.

dominicm16:09:58

transducers and side effects are unrelated 🙂

dominicm16:09:06

(although they happen to go together)

otfrom16:09:20

yeah, there are usually side effects at either end, tho I do my file reading in a transducer (I pass in a vector of file names and mapcat the results)

otfrom16:09:01

my output is usually in a run! tho

dominicm16:09:50

I only care if it's LTS, but I think it is

dharrigan17:09:01

17, in 1 year time.

dominicm17:09:28

Then I shall wait. I've stopped using alpha stuff. I don't enjoy rewriting it all later.

dominicm17:09:42

Spec is too alpha for me.

genRaiy18:09:43

we are this 👉:skin-tone-3: 👈:skin-tone-3: close to having everything work on jdk11 so I think we can also wait

genRaiy18:09:33

the only reason to go to 11 now is that Clojure is gonna bump its requirement one of these days and this should buy us 6-10 years

dominicm20:09:43

That'll be years right? They only recently went to 8, and that was years after 8 was released.

genRaiy08:09:02

yeah very likely will be a few years away but unless its very inconvenient (and it isn't so far) I want to code to where, as the say, the puck is going

pez20:09:51

Good morning!

pez20:09:23

I realize I'm not doing UGT right, but must poke at it a bit to calibrate myself. 😀

otfrom08:09:22

we only talk about UGT as it gives us something to talk about.
