good morning!

otfrom07:07:15

sunny and blowy here today. Gettting a couple of stumps taken out. I hope that I still have internet/electrcity/gas/water/sewerage at the end of it

Ben Hammond08:07:27

will they leave big holes in the ground?

ouvasam08:07:15

good morning !

otfrom08:07:20

@ben.hammond I'm not sure yet tbh. I presume so

ordnungswidrig08:07:08

@otfrom how is it done? Excavator? Sulfuric acid? Mushrooms?

otfrom08:07:20

they have.... a device

otfrom08:07:43

it will dig down about 35cm

otfrom08:07:55

and macerate the stump I believe

ray08:07:18

Isn't it known as a grinder, cos well, it grinds the stump?

ordnungswidrig08:07:38

I’m a little disappointed. I had secretly hope for some footage of explosive devices :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

otfrom08:07:12

@ordnungswidrig I'm hoping nothing will go 💥

otfrom08:07:24

tho if they make a mistake and find a gas pipe things might get exciting

ordnungswidrig08:07:00

Openstreepmap might have you covered.

synthomat08:07:35

don’t they use something like this?

otfrom08:07:21

they might do. I've not seen it yet

otfrom08:07:33

that looks plausible tho

otfrom10:07:40

@synthomat the grinder does look like that except that it is red and a Toro

synthomat12:07:53

that seem to be smaller. I think there are also really big machines for that

synthomat14:07:42

btw. wasn’t there an effort to de-couple kafka from zk?

synthomat14:07:51

(maybe not for all scenarios)

jasonbell14:07:59

Q2 2021 before it’ll be stable. It’s in test.

jasonbell14:07:30

Same as the tiered storage @synthomat - It’ll be in preview for a while and go to GA eventually. You’ll still be able to run Kafka in “legacy” mode if you’re not sure.

jasonbell14:07:44

It’s a major change so I’m not moving too fast on it.
