Hey guys 👋, I moved back to Brussels after 14 years in NL. Wondering what the Clojure community is like here. The chat is booming I see! 🙃 I'm wondering what the Belgian scene is like - Google is not helpful. Does anyone have pointers for any stuff going on / any companies using Clojure here / anyone down for a meetup or casual drinks somewhere? Looking forward to join this small community that hosts a huge conference!
I have taken the lead a few times in the past cause no one else ever does... but you don't need to wait for me. Or if you want we can do it together.
Leuven is easy for me, we did it once at a bar in kessel-lo not far from the train station. They have rooms upstairs you can book for free, as long as everyone buys a drink
We also did it at 3E a few times, they're in Brussels. They do more common lisp but they're friendly to Clojure
> bar in Kessel-lo it's called Cafe Tempo, but it seems they have new owners, so someone should call to check if the conditions are the same https://culinaireambiance.com/nl/articles/afscheid-van-een-tijdperk-in-leuven-cafe-tempo-wisselt-van-eigenaar-na-24-jaar
the Blauput hostel also has conference rooms, that's really right at the station. Not sure what the conditions are.
@plexus thanks for the info! I’ll gladly take the lead on something with some support from you if needed
I'll make a post about it tonight
Hi Yann, great to have you here. There have been occasional meetups, in Leuven and Brussels. Some plans seem to be in the making for another one in Leuven, in the near future.
Cool nice to meet you! Is there someone that usually takes the lead in these things? I'd love to get a meetup going. I have some time on my hands and I'd like to help, or even organise but it would be my first time doing something like that 🙂
