Is there any possibility of taking any of the current drawing frameworks and making them work with XScreenSaver? Or to replace the lock screen for for a Linux desktop?

As a follow-up, it seems there was once a project called SaverBeans that could do this by linking libMotif. So any attempt to bring this forward would require a lot of hacking around, it seems 😕 Also Wayland complicates everything.
The last time I investigated that (a very long time ago) Swing wasn't able to draw on the correct window. But I haven't been as looped in lately to know what is possible.
