IIRC, it was Closure that started requiring Java 8 @mikerod

It may have been things like this https://github.com/google/closure-compiler/commit/ae7e8d82d551f84565eb3f1891e1dfbe9a1850ae But, in the end, it was the bytecode (class version) that caused the need for ClojureScript to follow.

@mfikes whoops. I meant to post that in clojure-dev channel. Yeah I knew cljs has had a higher Java min for a while. Thanks for the link though! Hah I’ll fix my mistake post now
