cljfx 2026-02-02

Hey guys, does anyone have the experience building macos apps that support user payments using cljfx or javafx in general? I did some research over the weekend but failed to find a solution.

I don't, last time I shipped desktop software was in 2010 (or so) and it was written in Javascript (pre Electron days). Very briefly I worked on iOS apps so I had the chance to interact with Apple's billing systems and their docs, plus just reading random articles and listening to podcasts from people who actually ship Mac/iOs apps (http://atp.fm etc)

one thing I just remembered - https://cyberduck.io/ is written in https://github.com/iterate-ch/cyberduck, and is available on MAS, I believe relevant parts of it are open source so maybe you can figure out how they were able to make it work

Thanks, I'll look into CyperDuck and try to figure out how they did it.

as in Mac App Store billing? Are you planning to distribute your app through Mac App Store?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I would like to if possible. But I'm open to other solutions as well.

I don't think you can do MAS billing without writing some ObjC or Swift. That's one, secondly I don't know if you can ship a JVM app on the store, Apple will make it really difficult. That's said I use a couple of applications which use http://Paddle.com for subscriptions / desktop app licenses

Thanks for the inputs. I really appreciate it.

What language do you use to write those desktop apps?
