Another way to fix the Cheshire issue would be enabling https://github.com/clojure/clojure/commit/3d9b356306db77946bdf4809baeb660f94cec846 which would universally allow us to run older libraries with bugs in (e.g. some core.async versions).

I opened a PR for both approachs, I'm leaning towards disabling spec and being as lenient as possible.
