@ryanbrush: It would be neat to be able to "step" through a session. I'm not really sure how doable that would be, or if it'd be crazy for large sets of facts, but since you mentioned Bret Victor -- I imagined the Braid example. Being able to step through time and "see" rules fire would be cool.
I'm imagining something like the current show-session
tool, but with some sort of temporally inspectable aspect to it.
