i think Braid actually sits in the middle of the ephemeral----perennial spectrum b/c it addresses some of the issues ("the pitfalls of chat for discussions at scale" in OP).... it can be 'threaded chat'... or it can be... realtime forum

not much on the development side from me for the last two weeks, busy with work stuff... i will be writing up a 'state-of-braid' summary of where things are with the project (it's only really been 6ish weeks since braid has started and there has been a lot of progress)
