@juhoteperi Is boot-alt-test ready to be listed along community tasks in the wiki?

escherize01:05:05

Besides tenzing are there other boot-centric templates laying around?

escherize01:05:50

I guess I want lein new app but with boot

alandipert02:05:02

hm, not aware of anything like that

alandipert02:05:44

we do have a new task tho thanks to @seancorfield , you can use it like boot -d seancorfield/boot-new new -t <template-name> -n <app-name>

alandipert02:05:06

i was pretty stoked, i went a full month of clojure programming without installing lein thanks to it

alandipert02:05:21

had to install it today tho to work on one of my old libs

escherize03:05:55

definitely a lot of value in boot-new.

seancorfield05:05:18

I guess there might be some value in having boot-new have some built-in templates that project lein projects? 🙂

seancorfield05:05:38

I was working on clojure.java.jdbc the other day and was so tempted to switch the local dev/test setup from lein to boot 🙂

seancorfield05:05:16

(the CI system uses mvn so whether it has project.clj or build.boot is irrelevant)

malcolmsparks16:05:32

@mobileink: factoring in your suggestion there

mobileink18:05:15

is that "lamb one" or "lam bone"?

mobileink18:05:10

so it would be sth like lam-bo-nay? I like that, it's like secret knowledge.

mobileink18:05:04

Think you should put a pronunciation note in the readme. ; )

richiardiandrea18:05:28

I put it 😄

piotrek19:05:19

Hi, do you have any recommendation how to create a tgz file from my boot build? I need to put the project jar file and some config and start/stop scripts in it

piotrek19:05:32

putting those files in the correct locations inside the tgz (e.g. *.sh files from $PROJECT_DIR/scripts into bin dir in tgz and $PROJECT_DIR/config in config the root dir of tgz)

piotrek19:05:27

I couldn’t find such a task on the community tasks on wiki, the only thing I thought of was to use for example boot-shell and execute the tar binary

richiardiandrea19:05:24

I think the easiest would be to call tar from the shell yes, or maybe use some java/clojure (?) library for that

richiardiandrea19:05:35

I am not aware of any pre-made task

richiardiandrea19:05:01

the task will accept the list of file names or regexes to match against and will call boot.core/by-name or boot.core/by-re for getting the right java.io.Files

mobileink19:05:17

@richiardiandrea: but the pronunciation you put is lam bone. I think you want /lam-bo-nay/ (Note that -ne does not mean -nay to most English speakers).

richiardiandrea19:05:59

@mobileink: I copied the pronunciation from that website

richiardiandrea19:05:37

in my head is more like ne anyways as we don't really have the ay ending in Italian

piotrek19:05:46

@richiardiandrea: thanks, maybe it will be a good exercise for me to write such a task 🙂

mobileink19:05:19

yes, I suspect the -e is a "pure" e in Italian, but we don't have that in English. IOW, when you say "lampone" in Italian, an English speaker will hear "lam-po-nay". "ne" will always be heard as 3 sounds: n-e-i (en-?-ee, using ? because we don't even have a way of writing that pure sound). sorry to be so pedantic, I'm a language geek. ;)

richiardiandrea19:05:20

@mobileink: you are definitely right about that, you do have the sound though, but not at the end of a word (I guess?)

mobileink19:05:58

ah, yes we have the sound, but we do not recognize it as a first class sound. a fascinating example imo of how our literacy training affects our perceptions!

richiardiandrea19:05:54

interestingly enough, I found it only in conjunction with i: http://www.wordreference.com/enit/break

richiardiandrea19:05:19

haven't tried too many words, but bet and bed have a slightly different sound
