the main thing is you'd write the sql statements in your ring handlers (or in functions that are called by your ring handlers). your ring handlers can use biff.fx if you want, or you can just have them be plain functions if you don't want to use biff.fx either.

but yeah you could have a biff.fx ring handler that does a sql effect first and then has a state function that takes the result of the sql effect
