I'm all in for a RAMA/XTDB2 Backend Biff !!!!
Hey @sigve.nordgaard out of interest, do any of the descriptions on the http://xtdb.com homepage resonate with you? Also note that it supports a lispy/Datalog-esque query language too: https://github.com/xtdb/driver-examples/blob/87aef5f4fab635a34a816b3968e782f938ea9d29/clojure/dev/user.clj#L68
What is the sell for XTDB2? Datalog in clojure is one of the things i love most about datomic, xtdb1 and others
Thanks for the feedback 🙏 totally appreciate the homepage is not at all speaking to existing users of v1 / people who were 'sold' on the API design of v1 (even if they weren't using it yet). The short answer is that v2 is a more ambitious product (given how complex SQL is to deliver) with a clearer path to long term traction (SQL is a massive audience) and revenue (more users = more paying users). If Datalog were more popular already then the emphasis would of course be different, but we are where we are. We haven't given up hope with XTQL yet though and plan to continue iterating in that direction also. You might enjoy this podcast: https://www.juxt.pro/blog/sane-query-languages-podcast/
Thanks 🙂
Hi, the homepage makes a good sell for XTDB in general. What is not clear to me is what improvements and changes have been made to v2 vs v1 except for the query language. Although it supports a lispy/Datalog-esque query language, i dont see the sell for learning yet another query language instead of datalog.
I guess what i am missing i a "migrating from v1 guide" and a "rationale" for switching from datalog to SQL+a qustom query language
For all who have been pining for another Biff blog post: the wait is over. https://biffweb.com/p/edn-html-forms/
