IDEA works perfectly fine on projects with thousands of dependencies and tens of millions of locs. Granted, VSCode might be faster - but it's also a far cry from IDEA in terms of features. Maybe not so much if you never use anything beyond Clojure, but as soon as you need some Java there's just no comparison.
The tooling is different. You'll probably want to look at #C6N245JGG to help you get up and running with #C03S1L9DN if your intended target is JS and the browser.
You may also be interested in #C03U8L2NXNC which is sort of Clojure syntax with JS semantics. If you are interested in building components to add to an existing JS project, you might find that an easier way to try out a Lisp for the browser 🙂
Never heard of rescript, and I don't know ocaml, so I can't comment. I know Standard ML fairly well from back in the day 🙂
Completely different, unrelated tools.
Eh?.. What do you mean? They have similar goals, but use different config files and in a different manner, they behave differently, have different code, are maintained by different people.
No idea what you're saying, to be honest.
I'd recommend finding a guide/tutorial that you like and sticking to it. Use whatever tools it uses, apart from the editor. You'll be just fine with that approach.
As for configuring a run configuration in IDEA - if you use Cursive, it's trivial. The project will be either deps.edn (`clj` CLI) or project.clj (Leiningen) based. Cursive will by itself generate the required class path for you based on one of those files - it's all very well documented on the Cursive website.
I don't remember the last time I had to manually type a class path somewhere.
Clojure-lsp is a separate tool, unrelated to deps/Leiningen or Cursive.
> If those are the latest Leiningen and Clojure versions, yes they should be compatible Just in case - Clojure and Clojure CLI are different things. The original question was about the latter. But given the surrounding confusion, maybe Clojure was meant.
Downloading indices - it happens rarely, or you can trigger it manually. Nothing to sweat about. Importing projects - IDEA and deps/lein have different formats and sets of data that they need, and Cursive converts the latter into the former.
