I haven't used it yet because I have only recently begun to use terraform with AWS, but if you use terraform to manage infrastructure (presumably including some things that aren't in AWS) and need to automate a portion of infrastructure that is already covered by CloudFormation there is https://www.terraform.io/docs/providers/aws/r/cloudformation_stack.html
